A popular product sold around the country, including in Tennessee, has been recalled over a potentially dangerous health risk.
Dynarex Corporation has recalled over 1,000 cases, totaling around 40,000 bottles, of its Dynacare Baby Powder due to a potential asbestos contamination, according to a recall notice shared this week by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. While asbestos is a mineral that occurs naturally and is often found near talc — and ingredient used in many cosmetic products — it could pose serious health risks due to being a known carcinogen.
The recall affects the 14-ounce bottles, item number 4875, and the 4-ounce bottles, item number 4874, that were sent to distributors on or after January 18, 2024.
The affected product was sold online via Amazon and was also distributed to several states around the country, including Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin.
No adverse events have been reported as of time of the recall; however, customers should stop use immediately and return the product for a full refund.
