A man in Tennessee was arrested and accused of killing his girlfriend after police said he attempted to sell her car with her dead body still inside.

Metro Nashville Police arrested 31-year-old Robert Miquel Johnson on Monday (June 14), more than a month after the body of his 44-year-old girlfriend, Pamela Paz, was discovered on Pennington Bend Road under a Briley Parkway overpass on May 2, according to the NY Post. Her cause of death was determined to be strangulation and/or trauma to the neck.

Detectives interviewed a witness who claimed that just one day before Paz's body was found, Johnson had attempted to sell the victim's Dodge Charger while her body was in the back seat. He quickly became a suspect and police set out to talk to him.

When police questioned him, he claimed to have an alibi for the time of the murder, however that later turned out not to be true.

"He was interviewed and provided an alibi, which was subsequently proven to be false," according to MNPD.

Johnson was arrested by MNPD, but he is currently jailed in nearby Wilson County on unrelated charges. He will soon be booked into Nashville and charged with Paz's murder.
