Jamie Foxx is singing once again on the big screen. He voices a middle-school band teacher and jazz enthusiast who meets an unexpected end, only to discover a fantastical place that teaches him “what it truly means to have a soul.” “Soul” also features the voices of Tina Fey, Phylicia Rashad, Daveed Diggs and The Roots drummer Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson.
Directed by two-time Academy Award-winner Pete Docter, alongside award winning playwright Kemp Powers, the movie is the first black-led animated film for the trailblazing CGI production company behind Academy Award winning blockbusters including “Toy Story,” “Monsters, Inc,” “Finding Nemo,” “The Incredibles” and 2017’s “Coco.”
“Soul” opens in theaters on June 19, 2020.
