A Cyntoia Brown Documentary is Headed to Netflix

Netflix is staying connected to the heart of the people.keeping their foot on the industry’s neck. The streaming service is continuing to tell stories for people who have been oppressed through the justice system.

This time, it's a faithful listener of Hallelujah FM Miss Cyntoia Brown.

Netflix has acquired the rights to her story for a documentary which is set to examine the facts of the case that began in 2004.

Just as a reminder of her story, Cyntoia was 16 years old when she was tried as an adult for murdering the 43 year old man who paid to have sex with her. Because Brown was a minor at the time of the incident, it was clear statutory rape. Advocates for Brown have described her as a victim of human trafficking. She was forced into prostitution by a pimp after leaving home. As a result of the murder, she was sentenced to life in prison.

Tennessee governor Bill Haslam eventually granted Brown clemency earlier this year.

Brown, whose 31 now , is set to be released on August 7.
