How overwhelming to know the lives that you are touching....LORD, WE ARE GRATEFUL!!!!!
Jaime the fiance' of Cyntoia Brown, a Tennessee woman serving a life sentence for murder, who will regain her freedom in August following a high-profile campaign for clemency called Dre Monie & Sherry Mackey your Early Morning Praise Party to share a message that she had for them personally.
In the message, Cyntoia shared how much she loves Hallelujah FM and how she has been so inspired by Sherry & Dre. She was listening when they talked about her case on the air and sent the heart warming message (below) via her future husband.
On Monday, as one of his final acts in office, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam granted the 30-year-old Brown clemency after she served 15 years in prison. She will be released to parole supervision on August 7, according to the governor. She shot and killed a man who she thought was going to kill her after he solicited her for sex when she was only 16.
In a statement, Ms. Brown thanked the governor “for your act of mercy in giving me a second chance. I will do everything I can to justify your faith in me.” She also thanked Department of Corrections officials who helped her get an education and “saw something in me worth salvaging.”
Brown has spent all her adult life in prison, but her advocates say she has worked to transform herself during her time behind bars. While in prison, Cyntoia earned her high school equivalency diploma and an associate degree, with a 4.0 G.P.A., from Lipscomb University’s LIFE program, which allows prisoners in the Tennessee Prison for Women to work toward a degree. She is continuing her education and is expected to earn a bachelor’s degree in May.
