TYLER PERRY STUDIOS’ STAR STUDDED GRAND OPENING IN ATLANTA

Media Mogul Tyler Perry officially opened his studio in Atlanta.

Although the studio has been operational for quite some time now, Saturday night the facility had its grand opening and Hollywood’s A-list were on hand to celebrate.

The 330-acre entertainment complex – which used to be a military facility named Fort McPherson – has now officially opened its doors as the only major film studio in the nation owned by an African-American.

Among the many celebs walking the red carpet were Bishop T.D. Jakes, Oprah Winfrey, Viola Davis, Spike Lee, Halle Berry, Cecily Tyson, Whoopie Goldberg, and Samuel Jackson.

The legendary actress Cecily Tyson had nothing but praise for Tyler Perry's new studio complex.

“I would come straight down from Heaven to experience this moment,” the veteran actress said. ‘Believe me, I wouldn’t miss it.”

Oprah Winfrey praised Tyler Perry calling him a force to be reckoned with.

“He didn’t wait for other people to validate or to say you should go this way or that way. He said I’m going to create my own way and as we can see here, become a force for himself,” Winfrey said.

“I remember when he was thinking about buying this place and I said ‘You’d be crazy not to take it.'” she added.

Tyler Perry Studios has 12 soundstages, each named after seminal black actors and actresses.
